Postcare & Aftercare for Lips
PRECARE
First, you must make sure you are a good candidate for permanent makeup. The best way to do this is with a phone consultation. Please text or email a few clear pictures of your lips without make up to 941-962-6375 or anueaesthetics@gmail.com with your full name and the procedure you'd like.
Once you're confirmed, you can read through the following instructions to ensure your lips heal as well as possible.
general good health
no botox, lasers, chemical peels, waxing within 2 weeks
no brow enhancing serums
no sunburn or excessive sun exposure within 2 weeks
no accutane
not pregnant or nursing
cold sore outbreaks - If you are a carrier, lip blush will most likely cause an outbreak. request an anti-viral by your doctor before your procedure. Medication should be taken for a total of 5 days (2 days prior, 1 the day of, and 2 days after the procedure. NO EXCEPTIONS.
no cancer, diabetes, autoimmune
no bloodthinners
no alcohol the night before
no severely chapped lips
POSTCARE
Your lips will possibly be swollen and slightly tender for the first 24 hours and will take about 5 days to heal. During this time, your lips will shed, feel dry, and look patchy. the color will fade about 40% after the first few days. You may ice your lips after the procedure If needed.
Day 1-2 - You will want to wipe your lips every few hours with a damp cotton round - morning afternoon, and evening.
Day 1-5 - Keep the lips clean and moist! Continue to layer the ointment that you were provided with when you'er lips are feeling dry. Use the anti-bacterial soap provided every morning for first 5 days to cleanse the lips and new tattoo.
For five days:
no acidic foods
no spicy foods
no kissing for 24 hours
no direct sun
no picking or itching
no pools, oceans, saunas, hot tubs
no facials or skin treatments
no products other than the ones you're provided
no smoking as much as possible
no filler
HEALING SCHEDULE & EXPECTATIONS
DAY 1
Lips are darker and intense than expected healed results right after the procedure. During the next hour, lips will continue appearing darker than the expected results. All clients will have moderate swelling and tightness after the procedure.
DAY 2
Swelling will subside. Lips will feel a little tender and tight. Lips will be dry.
DAY 3
Shedding begins. Lips will start to lighten in color.
DAY 4-6
Lips will continue to lighten and shed.
DAY 5-7
Shedding should be complete.
WEEK 2-4
The color will lighten then darken day by day. The true color will surface at the one-month mark. Your lips will heal in three stages: Too dark - Too light - Just right. This takes one month to occur from start to finish.
